Terms of Use
Effective date: April 14, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of GitBlixt ("the Service"), operated by GitBlixt ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to the hosted version of GitBlixt at gitblixt.com. If you are running a self-hosted instance of GitBlixt, these Terms do not apply to your instance — you are responsible for establishing your own terms for your users.
1. Definitions
- "Account" — your registered user account on the Service.
- "Content" — any code, text, data, files, images, or other materials you upload, submit, or store on the Service. This includes repository contents, issues, merge requests, comments, wiki pages, and snippets.
- "Repository" — a Git repository hosted on the Service, including its branches, tags, commits, and associated metadata.
- "User" — any individual who creates an Account or accesses the Service.
2. Account Terms
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
- You must provide a valid email address and accurate information when registering.
- One person per Account. Shared or machine accounts must be operated by a designated individual who accepts responsibility.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Account, including your password, SSH keys, and personal access tokens.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your Account.
- You must notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your Account.
3. Content Ownership
You own your Content. We do not claim ownership of any Content you submit to the Service. You retain all intellectual property rights in your Content.
License to us. By storing Content on the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, reproduce, and transmit your Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service. This includes actions such as backing up your data, serving your repositories to authorized users, rendering your Content in the web interface, and processing your Content through features you choose to use (such as CI/CD pipelines or the AI assistant). This license ends when you delete your Content or close your Account.
License to other Users. If you set a Repository to public,
you grant other Users a non-exclusive license to view, fork, and clone that
Repository. If you include a license file in your Repository (e.g. LICENSE, LICENSE.md), that license governs how others
may use your Content. Code contributed to a Repository that already contains a
license is presumed to be submitted under the same license unless otherwise stated.
4. Private Repositories
We treat the contents of private Repositories as confidential. We will not access, read, or share the contents of your private Repositories except:
- When required by law or legal process
- When you explicitly authorize access (e.g. by enabling the AI assistant on a Repository)
- When necessary to maintain the security and integrity of the Service
- When providing support you have requested
5. AI Assistant
GitBlixt offers an optional AI assistant feature powered by Claude Code (provided by Anthropic). When you use AI features:
- Your Repository contents are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. This is necessary for the AI to read your code and generate fixes or reviews.
- Each User provides their own Anthropic API key or OAuth token. We do not share keys between Users.
- AI-generated merge requests are clearly labeled and require human review before merging. We make no guarantees about the correctness, security, or quality of AI-generated code.
- You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated changes before merging them into your codebase.
See Anthropic's terms and privacy policy for how they handle data sent to their API. GitBlixt does not control Anthropic's data practices.
6. App Deployment (PaaS)
GitBlixt offers optional application deployment features. When you use deployment:
- Your application is built and runs as a Docker container on the server infrastructure.
- Environment variables and secrets you configure are encrypted at rest but are injected into your running containers in plaintext, as is standard for containerized applications.
- Application logs are stored and may contain data generated by your application at runtime.
- We do not monitor the content of your deployed applications, but we may take action if a deployment violates the Acceptable Use policy below.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Host, distribute, or link to malware, viruses, or other harmful software
- Conduct phishing, spam, or social engineering attacks
- Mine cryptocurrency or run computationally abusive workloads
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other Users
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
- Circumvent access controls, rate limits, or other security measures
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Scrape or bulk-download Content without authorization
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate Accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.
8. Copyright and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe Content on the Service infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to us. The notice must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- Identification of the infringing material and its location on the Service
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf
- Your physical or electronic signature
We will respond to valid takedown notices by removing or disabling access to the allegedly infringing Content. Repeat infringers may have their Accounts terminated.
9. API Usage
The Service provides a REST API. When using the API:
- You must authenticate with a valid personal access token or session
- Do not share tokens or use them to circumvent rate limits
- Do not use the API to spam, scrape, or bulk-harvest data
- Excessive or abusive API usage may result in temporary or permanent suspension of API access
10. Termination
- By you: You may delete your Account at any time. Upon deletion, we will remove your Account data and private Repositories. Content you contributed to other Users' Repositories (e.g. merge request comments, issues) may be retained but attributed to a placeholder account.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your Account for violation of these Terms, with reasonable notice where possible. In cases of severe or illegal activity, we may act immediately without notice.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any Content will be accurate, reliable, or available. You use the Service at your own risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, regardless of the theory of liability.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice on the Service or sending an email to the address associated with your Account at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. General
- Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict of law principles.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
